A letter from our Recruitment Chair

Dear Potential New Members,

I am honored and excited to serve as Alpha’s Recruitment Chair for the 2025-2026 term. Beginning when I went through primary recruitment as a potential new member myself, I felt a connection to Chi Omega like no other. Going through primary recruitment at Chi Omega showed me a type of bond and friendship I knew I wanted to be a part of. I am so incredibly grateful for the loving sisterhood and empowering community that Chi Omega here at UW has given me.

Growing up as an only child, I was nervous going into primary recruitment as an incoming first-year. I had never lived with anyone my own age, and I was afraid I wouldn’t fit in. I can now say, without a doubt, that Chi Omega proves to me that I belong, every day. From the moment I stepped inside Chi Omega, I was not only welcomed but celebrated for who I was. I have found my chosen family, and I know you all can as well! Each member here at Alpha adds something unique to our vibrant and uplifting sisterhood. Whether you’re feeling nervous, excited, or somewhere in between, I want to assure you that here at Chi Omega we want you to be yourself!

As members of Chi Omega, we strive to live out our six purposes: Friendship, personal integrity, service to others, academic excellence, community and campus involvement, and career development. All of us here at Alpha support each other to achieve our goals and foster lifelong friendships. I have learned things about myself and achieved things I never thought I could, all thanks to the support from my sisters here at Chi Omega! I can confidently say that the amazing women in this house will be there for you no matter what, just as they have been for me.

If you are interested in learning more about Chi Omega’s sisterhood, please check out the rest of our website, our Instagram @uwchiomega, and our TikTok @uwchiomega. I am so excited for you to see what the Panhellenic community has to offer here at UW, and why we here at Alpha love Chi Omega! I know you will all find an amazing community through recruitment, just as I have found mine! I look forward to meeting you all in the fall.

Formal Fall Recruitment

Formal Fall Recruitment takes place each year in September and is the most common recruitment process that members participate in. It's an incredibly fun week full of events where the chapters are able to really get to know the PNMs, show them our home, and share our beloved philanthropy. At the end of the week, we welcome our new members home on one of the most exciting days of the year, Bid Day!

For the most up-to-date information regarding Formal Fall Recruitment 2025, please visit the University of Washington Panhellenic website. We can't wait to meet you!

Continuous Open Bidding

Continuous Open Bidding, also referred to as COB, is the informal recruitment process. Once Formal Fall Recruitment is over, some chapters will begin COB and it can continue until the end of Spring quarter. It's a great opportunity for girls to still join the Greek community that either weren't able to attend Formal Fall or transferred to the University of Washington.
